RESPECT

Care for animals using humane practices. Provide veterinary care when the animal’s health warrants it.

 

When dealing with other members, or members of the public, treat people with respect and model respectful behavior through individual and organizational behavior.

RESPONSIBILITY

Apply all applicable rules, regulations and policies impartially.

 

Pursue excellence, and seek ways to improve the operation and delivery of services.

 

Share information and seek input, strive to educate and cooperate with others

CARING and COMPASSION

Provide a supportive environment for branch members and all other members, as well as the public and consumers.

 

Failure to adhere to these Codes of Ethics shall result in discipline up to and including canceling the individual membership.

HONESTY

Communicate consistently, ethically, truthfully and with integrity inside and outside of the organization. Accepts responsibility for their actions.

 

Do not misrepresent or exaggerate the quality of an animal or it’s offspring.

SOCIAL CONSCIENCE

Represent the organization in a professional manner, never disparaging or slandering members or the organization to other members or the public.

 

Strive to promote positive and collaborative relationships with other agencies, organizations and individuals.

 

Never use social media sites, groups or texts to disparage or slander the organization or fellow members of the organization.

FAIR and JUST

Do not misrepresent animals. Examples may include, if you are selling an animal, use a current picture of that animal, not a similar one from a previous sale; Do not sell an animal as a carrier, unless it is in fact a proven carrier; When selling breeding animals or herd improvement stock, provide a pedigree at the time of the sale (or within the agreed date set, at the time of sale).

 

Apply consistent principles. Use fair judgment rather than being judgmental, and consider opposing viewpoints. Make informed decisions.

Message from the President on the Revised Code of Ethics

As stated in the opening quote from Allen Cox, a Code of Ethics should represent the values of the organization and sets the tone for how the leadership and members treat each other as well as members of the public and our customers.

​

This revised Code of Ethics represents the excellence that has always been a founding principal of Empress Chinchilla. It reminds us that in all transactions, honesty and respect should always be at the forefront of our mind and anything less is simply unacceptable.
