Dr. James S. Lauridsen

Dr. James Lauridsen was instrumental in developing the genetics of the new mutation chinchillas. He strongly advocated for mutation shows and was also one of the founding members of MCBA.

Robert Gunning

Robert Gunning was a chinchilla rancher in the Spokane, Washington area who developed the Gunning Black Velvet animal. This was the most highly sought after mutation and its beauty and genes are used today in many other mutations today.

Loyd G. Sullivan

Loyd developed the unique process of dressing chinchilla pelts after other forms of dressing were a failure, thus giving the chinchilla rancher a way to market their product. Sullivan Fur Dressing was considered the best dressing for chinchilla pelts.

Reginald Chapman

Reginald Chapman was the son Of Mathias. Reginald handled the building of the Chapman Chinchilla breeding and marketing business which grew into a huge supplier of chinchilla in the Los Angeles area with breeding pairs sold across the country.

William "Bill" Poley

Bill Poley developed the most successful way of buying chinchilla pelts, by attending Empress events and branch functions for the purpose of purchasing pelts. He also paid the breeders on the spot for what he purchased.

Willard was a fur marketer, and when the fur market was not interested in working with Chinchilla due to the previous poor pelt dressing, he saw the quality of the Sullivan Dressing and became an advocate for Chinchilla fur in the manufacturing industry. And brought the Chinchilla back as a highly sought after product for garments.

Ramon and his wife produced the high quality chinchillas of the day. Those animal received top awards including grand show at the national show s in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

Willis and Maria marketed chinchilla pelts and wrote a monthly Chinchilla International Magazine. Maria was a sanctioned show judge.
